Rumors surrounding the possible ownership group of MLS’ 20th franchise have been circling all weekend, after MLS Commissioner Don Garber spoke recently of his hopes to have an announcement in “the next 4-6 weeks” on an expansion franchise in Queens, NYC.

Reports across various outlets overnight have the member of the Abu Dhabi royal family stumping up the cash for an expansion franchise, and reveals his plans to spend plenty more as he aims for a new franchise named “New York City” to match the success of his EPL side.

QU South Africa

district 9During class on April 17th we watched the movie District 9. Before watching it, I was not really sure how we were going to be able to relate a movie about aliens to South Africa and the history of the country. But it was a lot easier to compare it to South Africa than I had expected; at the same time I also really enjoyed watching it. T

he story takes place in District 9 in Johannesburg, where the aliens live for themselves. The first glimpse of District 9 reminded me of the townships we have previously read about in South Africa. There were shacks everywhere, built right next to one another, and it was not at all a pleasant way of living.

St. Paul Bar Owners Celebrate Wild Playoff Berth

Posted in Uncategorized on April 29, 2013 by poetrylogankessler

WCCO | CBS Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — Lockout? What lockout? Minnesota Wild fans were quick to forgive and forget a four-month work stoppage, flocking back to the Xcel Energy Center for a shortened season.

The team sold out all but two of its 24 home games, drawing an average of 18,794 fans. That breaks a franchise record set in the 2005-06 season.

With that in mind, St. Paul bar and restaurant owners are celebrating the return of playoff hockey for the first time in four years. That’s especially after man business owners were hurt badly by the lack of business with the NHL lockout.

“It’s going to be huge for myself and just about every other establishment around Xcel,” said Pat Boemer, owner of McGovern’s on West 7th. “Any kind of Wild game, especially a playoff game, brings in about five times the amount of business you would have on any given…
